Major leaks have been gathered suggesting the possibility of the launch of a new member in the iPhone SE series. However, no official statement has been confirmed from the company despite the major upgrade in the upcoming iPhone SE4. Key expected rumor of the iPhone SE4
1. Display
Rumoured to be identical to the iPhone 14, it is estimated that the SE4 will have a 6.1-inch OLED display from BOE offering high resolution, enhanced colour accuracy and efficient contrast. The presence of an increased screen size with an OLED display is a major upgrade from the small 4.7-inch LCD panel offered by the previous iPhone SE3 3rd Gen. However, as expected from Apple the smartphone will come with a 60 Hertz refresh rate panel.
2. Colours
The SE series from Apple normally comes in different colour ranges including Starlight, Midnight and (Product) Red. Therefore, it is expected that the 4th generation of SE will continue the trend of the budget lineup offered by Apple by launching in the outlined three colours. This evaluation is supported by the fact the majority of Apple fans, to be precise around 75% of customers opt for the Midnight colour in the iPhone SE series. However, new colours are rumored to be seen which include White, Yellow and Blue.
3. Design
The most major upgrade in the iPhone SE4 is its design itself as it will come with an aluminum frame and a glass back. For the first time in the SE lineup, the coming 4th Gen will feature an action button, USB-C port and Apple’s famous face ID. The chances are very high that the design of the SE4 will be the same as the iPhone 14 from 2 years back. However, unlike the dual-camera layout, the 4th SE will have a single-camera layout. The smartphone will have a more modern look and a larger display with a small square-shaped notch. Focusing on the dimensions, it is leaked that it will have attributes of 148.5 x 71.2 x 7.8mm and a weight of around 166g. In comparison to the SE3 series, the upcoming lineup will provide a more premium experience in terms of look and feel with a reduced screen-to-body ratio.
4. Camera
As stated above the 4th generation of the iPhone SE4 will come with a single-camera layout featuring a 48-megapixel primary shooter a significant upgrade in comparison to the 12-megapixel shooter of the iPhone SE3. The phone will be capable of recording 4K video at 24, 25, 30, or 60 fps. The selfie camera of the smartphone is leaked to be 12-megapixel giving high-resolution pictures.
5. Memory and Storage
The leaks suggest that the iPhone SE4 will come in three internal storage configurations namely 64 GB, 128 GB and 256 GB or 512 GB. Following this the RAM is expected to be either 4GB, 6GB, 8GB or 12GB. It is rumoured that the RAM type of the smartphone will be either LPDDR4X or LPDDR4X 2133 MHz, indicating a slight possibility of an upgrade in the RAM type. However, in overall terms of memory and storage, negligible upgrades are predicted considering that the smartphone falls under the budget series offered by Apple.
6. Processor
The rumors suggest that the 4ht member of SE lineup will be powered by A17 Bionic or A18 Bionic chipset. Considering this, the smartphone will bring a major boost in terms of performance in comparison to the SE3 line which came with the A13 Bionic chipset. The chip will come with an enhanced GPU and CPU triggering an increase in the overall productivity and gaming performance of the SE4.
7. Battery
The leaks from the previous renders outline that the smartphone will be launched with a Li-Ion battery with more than 3200mAh capacity. The battery model is rumored to be the A2863 model with the device (D59). Given the very small battery capacity of 1,261mAh in the iPhone SE3, twice the boost in the battery performance of the SE4 lineup. However, the smartphone will support only 20 watts of charging and guess what? No charger will be provided in the box as usual :).
8. Release Date and Pricing
The 3rd generation of the SE lineup was launched in 2022. The new member of the SE series is expected to be launched by March 2025. It is expected that the iPhone SE4 will cost around $450 to $500 for the base variant. Therefore, with major upgrades in the specification, a slight rise is expected in the launch price of the upcoming SE4. In India, the pricing of the smartphone is rumored to be around ₹47,000 to ₹50,000 making it the most expensive SE in the country.
