We all know the Nothing CEO’s way of doing things. “Build the hype before the actual launch”. In a recent post on his X handle, Nothing CEO Carl Pei teases a glance at its upcoming flagship phone, the Nothing Phone 3. This stirred waves in the minds of tech enthusiasts awaiting the yearly launch of the Nothing flagship.
The past year’s flagship, the Nothing Phone 2 was not received as well as the previously launched Nothing Phone 1 due to the unanticipated price hike for the features it offered for an emerging brand. However, Nothing tried to remedy this by launching its latest phone, the Nothing Phone 2a which offered some good hardware and software specs for its pricing. So, this year’s main launch is a crucial event that Nothing can’t let go of the way the Nothing Phone 2 launch was received by the tech community.

The X Post by Carl Pei
The post from Pei shows two images, one in light mode and the other in dark mode enquiring “Sharing some Quick Settings redesign WIP, any feedback?” about the pictures. The images showcase the Quick Settings in expanded view and Condensed view.
Although the primary purpose of Carl Pei was to ask for feedback on the updated QuickSettings, netizens were quick to notice an extra button on the right side of the image just below the power button.
Quick Settings and Action Button
A comparison with the Nothing Phone 2 shows that pill-shaped Toggle buttons will be replaced with rounded buttons on the Phone 3. The WiFi button which used to consume much of the space in the Quick Settings has been downsized. The traditional minimal design elements of the Nothing Phone 2 have been retained on the alleged Phone 3. The Action button, as called on the iPhones, was introduced with the launch of the iPhone 15 series which was received well by the consumers. A wide range of functions can be allocated to these buttons like opening the camera app, turning on the torchlight, etc.
